People talk about the values they'd like to instill in their kids. Values such as "goodness" and such. One thing that I know I want to instill in my boys is the priceless value of any advice given to them by a future version of them travelling back in time to give them precious advice. They should heed whatever this person says. Don't worry if that person does not look like you. And don't worry if that person just came a few moments earlier and told you something completely different. Just do what they say. Especially if it has anything to do with lottery numbers and you happen to know that the jackpot is especially large that week. Or the stock market.
Thankfully, they've seen this kind of time travel stuff in a Harry Potter film and book, and also in an episode of Lilo and Stitch, so they should easily see the truth in my words.
Now, I realize that this may cause some confusion because it goes against the advice of not talking to strangers and doing what they ask. Hey, there's a way to solve that! This "future you" should be able to answer questions about your personal life that only YOU would know.
In fact, this same method will also work when confronted by some evil-doer who is masquerading as me and asking them to choose between the real me and the fake me. Of course my kids and I should be able to have common experiences to draw upon and foil the masquerador's plan.
It's really important in the 21st century to be thinking of these kinds of things. If you recall, most of the stories you've read about people going back in time -- well, they usually happened a couple hundred years into the future. I've been reading various things on the internet and let me tell you something: THE FUTURE IS NOW!
